Britt Huff

Council Member Britt Huff was elected to the City Council in 2013, after serving on the Planning Commission for five years; including as Chair, and on the City’s Environmental Advisory Committee. She was reelected in 2018 and again in 2022 and served as Mayor in 2018 and 2023. Councilmember Huff’s regional participation includes:

  --President, Los Angeles County Division of the League of California Cities/CalCities,            2025-2026, comprised of 85 LA County cities.

                               --LA Division Board of Directors, 2022-2027--State Board member, League of California                                  Cities/CalCities, 2021-2025.                 

--State President, California Association of Councils of Government/CalCOG, 2024-2025, comprised of 50 regional councils.

--State Board member, CALCOG, 2018-2027.

--Board President, South Bay Cities Council of Governments/SBCCOG, 2018-2019, comprised of 14 South Bay cities.

--Board of Directors member, SBCCOG, 2013-2022. 

     Council Member Huff has also participated on policy committees for SCAG/ Southern California Association of Governments, CalCities, Calfornia Contract Cities Association, and the Palos Verdes Chamber of Commerce. She has also served on numerous RHE City committees, including Chairing the RHE Environmental Advisory Committee, the RHE Equestrian Committee, RHE Holiday Parade Committee, the RHE Neighborhood Watch Board, and served as Treasurer of the PV Transit Board. She continues to serve on her HOA Board of Directors and has been a block captain for 16 years. Prior to her election to city council she was very active in local PV school PTAs, also serving as President of the 16-school PVP Council of PTAs; and on the Peninsula Education Foundation Board of Directors, as well as many other service organizations.  

       Council Member Huff holds a B.A. from UCLA, a graduate certificate from the American University in Washington, D.C., and a Ph.D. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in political science/systems management. Her previous professional experience includes: Capitol Hill Legislative Assistant; Foreign Service diplomat with the U.S. Dept. of State; District Office Deputy Director for the U.S. Department of Commerce; Regional Manager for the U.S. Department of Energy; and non-profit Director. She has also taught on the adjunct faculties of USC, Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and Marymount College in Palos Verdes.

    Councilmember Huff and her family are active in their church and she has served as an Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church USA. Along with her husband, Dr. Kenneth Huff, M.D., and daughter, Dr. HanaLise Huff, M.D., they have undertaken short-term medical missions together over the years, serving remote villages in South America and Africa, initially in Colombia, and most recently in Ghana and Kenya.
