Council Member Velveth Schmitz was elected to the Rolling Hills Estates City Council in 2016 and has since been reelected in 2020 and 2024. During her tenure, she has served two terms as Mayor. Council Member Schmitz’ commitment to the City began in 2006 volunteering on the Environmental Advisory Committee and her roles include commissioner on the Park & Activities Commission and the Planning Commission, where she served as Chair in 2012. Additionally, she has contributed her expertise to various City Committees.

Council Member Schmitz is a partner and Chief Executive Officer at HireBetter. She was the Chief Operating Officer for Athletes’ Renaissance. She was Vice-President at Invent Ventures, Inc. and head of Business Development at Stockr, Inc. She served as CEO and founder of The Hen and The Bird, Inc. Council Member Velveth Schmitz was a manager in Product Development and Client Management at Transamerica Retirement Services. 

Council Member Schmitz served as Vice Chair and Commissioner, appointed by Supervisor Janice Hahn, on the Los Angeles County Economy and Efficiency Commission and the Arboretum and Botanic Garden Commission. She has served as a Director and Board Chair with a variety of non-profit organizations. She volunteers for the University of California at Berkeley. 

Council Member Schmitz is the proud mother of two wonderful young women and is married to her college sweetheart.
